World's oldest pupil dies aged 90

An elderly Kenyan man who made history as the world's oldest pupil when he joined primary school seven years ago has died.

Kimani Nganga Maruge, 90, became a celebrity when he joined a school in the western Kenyan town of Eldoret at the age of 84, earning him a Guinness book of records entry as the oldest man ever to start primary school.

"He has been sick and his condition had deteriorated lately," said Donatila Ekuyi of Cheshire Home for the Aged.
