Abhijeet Sawant, winner of the first edition of Indian Idol in 2005, has joined the Shiv Sena. Uddhav Thackeray welcomed the singer-cumactor into the party with a saffron scarf and the Sena flag.
“I am a Marathi and a pucca Mumbaikar. That makes me a natural Shiv Sainik. I will tap and channelise the youth energy in the Sena,’’ Sawant said at a press conference on Saturday. He later dug into the Sena’s Shiv vada pav.
