SRK detained at the US airport
Bollywood actor Shah Rukh Khan was detained at the US airport of Newark in New Jersey on Saturday, and was questioned for over two hours, reportedly because of his surname.
Ironically, he was insulted in US on India's Independence Day when he was in US to attend a function on the occasion.
The insult was triggered due to his Muslim surname 'Khan'.
He kept telling the airport authorities that he was a celebrity, still the questioning continued. It was only after the Indian embassy intervened and vouched for him that he was released.
He was humiliated for being a Muslim was clear from the fact that his secretary who bore a Hindu name was allowed to go.
An angry Shah Rukh Khan said he felt humiliated by the Americans.
This is not the first time that SRK has gone to the US, but the latest insult has come as a big shock to millions of SRK fans.
This has again brought to the fore America's 9/11 hangover when a Muslim name sparks suspicion.
Shah Rukh Khan is in America for the South Asian Carnival to celebrate Independence Day.
This special Meet-and-Greet with Bollywoods big stars has been organised as an Independence Day treat for Indian fans in the US on Saturday in Chicago and on Sunday in Houston
